
Turkish Deputy Minister urges international community to recognize rights of Turkish Cypriots

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mehmet Kemal Bozay, along with the European Union (EU) Ambassador, has called for an end to systematic violations, including inhuman embargoes and unfair insulation against the Turkish Cypriots. Bozay emphasized the need for the international community to reaffirm the natural rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Speaking on various issues affecting the region, Bozay condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza and urged for a permanent resolution to the conflict. He also highlighted the decreasing reliability of the international system due to ongoing violations of international law. Bozay stressed the importance of multilateral actions to address persecution and violations of human rights, calling for accountability for those responsible.
Addressing the situation in Gaza, Bozay emphasized the need for urgent humanitarian aid for Palestinians and reiterated support for UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) efforts in the region. He also mentioned Turkey’s involvement in legal proceedings against Israel for alleged genocide in the International Court of Justice.
Bozay called for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders of 1967. He underscored the importance of peace in Lebanon and the rebuilding of Syria, emphasizing inclusive governance and international cooperation.
Regarding the Syrian conflict, Bozay highlighted the voluntary return of Syrian refugees based on UN guidelines and emphasized the need to eliminate terrorist groups like DAESH and PKK/YPG/SDG from the region. He called for an end to the exploitation of Syria’s resources and the closure of illegal detention camps controlled by terrorist organizations.
Bozay also addressed the rights of Turkish minorities in Western Thrace and other regions, calling for respect for their cultural identity and rights. He expressed support for peace initiatives in Sudan and the South Caucasus, stressing the importance of regional stability and cooperation.
In conclusion, Bozay reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to defending international law, human rights, and peace, stating that Turkey will continue to advocate for justice and honor for all.
