Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Russia, Iran and Syria Meet in Moscow
Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is in Moscow today to discuss regional issues with his counterparts from Russia, Iran and Syria. As part of his trip, Çavuşoğlu met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hüseyin Emir Abdullahiyan to discuss various topics, including energy.
Following the meeting, Çavuşoğlu shared on his social media account that Syria, high-level visits, and economic and energy cooperation were among the key topics discussed with his Iranian counterpart. Prior to the meeting on Syria, Çavuşoğlu held a one-on-one meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The meeting comes amid ongoing tensions in the region. Syria has been embroiled in a civil war since 2011, and the involvement of Russia, Iran and Turkey in the conflict has only heightened tensions. The four countries regularly meet to discuss issues related to Syria and the broader region.
