Minister Fidan to Make Official Visit to Paris Tomorrow
According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Fidan is scheduled to make an official visit to Paris tomorrow. During the visit, French Minister Barrot will discuss various topics, including Turkey-France bilateral relations, Turkey-EU relations, European Security, Ukraine-Russia War, Gaza, and Syria.
It is expected that Minister Fidan will highlight the importance of positive agenda items in bilateral relations with France, emphasizing the need for close dialogue and increased trade volume and mutual investments. Discussions will also focus on the development of partnerships in energy, transportation, tourism, technology, culture, and education.
In addition, Minister Fidan will address the need for a stable attitude towards racist and extremist currents targeting Turkish citizens in France, as well as the importance of cooperation in the defense industry and the fight against terrorism. The discussions will also touch upon the strategic perspective of Turkey-EU relations, with an emphasis on the European security of Turkey and the critical role of the EU in maintaining peace.
Furthermore, Minister Fidan is expected to urge France to support the fight against terrorist organizations in Syria, specifically the PKK/YPG, and to work towards the stability and security of the region. The international community is urged to take action in this direction.
Türkiye-France Bilateral Relations
The bilateral relations between Türkiye and France continue to progress positively, with a focus on regular senior dialogue. The trade volume between the two countries reached around 22.5 billion dollars in 2024, with Türkiye ranking 11th in France’s exports and 12th in imports. France, on the other hand, ranked 6th in Türkiye’s exports and 7th in imports.
The nearly 800 thousand Turkish citizens living in France play a crucial role as a bridge between the two countries. The visit of Minister Fidan is expected to further strengthen the ties between Türkiye and France, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in various sectors.
