Turkish Grand National Assembly tackles 9th Judicial Package, motions, and budget in busy week

The Turkish Grand National Assembly is set to tackle a number of important issues in the new week, with discussions on various bills and motions taking center stage.
One of the key topics that will be addressed is the bill containing regulations for consumer protection. This bill aims to increase penalties for deceptive and misleading advertisements, reorganize the direct sales system, and prevent victimization from practices like pyramid schemes.
Additionally, a motion to extend the term of duty of Turkish soldiers in Lebanon for another year has been submitted to the Parliament. This issue is expected to be discussed in the general assembly in the coming days.
Another significant item on the agenda is the 9th Judicial Package, which includes measures to address insult crimes committed via voice, written, or video messages. These crimes will no longer be eligible for ‘conciliation’ and will instead fall under the scope of ‘pre-payment’, with a limited complaint period of 2 years.
Furthermore, the budget marathon is set to begin in the Parliament, with discussions on the overall budget scheduled to take place at the Planning and Budget Commission. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will present the budget, followed by discussions on the budgets of ministries and institutions according to a determined calendar.
In addition, the Parliamentary Justice Committee will convene to discuss a bill to amend the notary law and some other laws. Overall, the Turkish Grand National Assembly is gearing up for a busy and productive week ahead.
