Turkish Grand National Assembly unites 13 Parliaments in support of Palestine

A new Parliamentary Group aimed at supporting Palestine is set to be announced at a meeting tomorrow in Istanbul, organized by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The meeting, hosted by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, is expected to have President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance.

During the meeting, Kurtulmuş will deliver an opening speech to a distinguished group of guests, including officials such as Palestinian National Council President Rawhi Fattouh, Qatar Shura Assembly President Hassan bin Abdulla Al Ghanim, and other representatives from various countries such as Malaysia, Senegal, and Azerbaijan. President of the House of Representatives of Spain, Francina Armengol Socias, will also participate through a video message.

The aim of the Parliamentary Group is to utilize parliamentary diplomacy effectively in order to address the ongoing attacks and atrocities in Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, and to establish a unified stance against Israeli aggression.

The initiative, spearheaded by Kurtulmuş, seeks to strengthen support for a two-state solution, increase recognition of the Palestinian state by more countries, and ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are upheld. The group will also focus on finding solutions to prevent further humanitarian disasters in the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint declaration by the participating national parliaments will be issued, outlining the roadmap for the Parliament Group in its support for Palestine. Additionally, bilateral meetings between the heads of the respective assemblies will also take place as part of the initiative.

This new Parliamentary Group represents a significant step towards solidarity for Palestine and underscores Turkey’s commitment to advocating for peace and justice in the region.
