Turkish New Year: Celebrating at Sea
As snowfall and cold weather continue to impact many cities in Turkey, residents in Bodrum were pleasantly surprised by images resembling summer weather. The sight of people swimming in the sea on the first day of the new year made onlookers envious of their enjoyment.
Holidaymakers and locals in Bodrum experienced unusually warm weather on the first day of the year. With air temperatures reaching 19 degrees at noon and sea water temperatures at 22 degrees, a group of citizens welcomed the new year by taking a dip in the sea.
Meanwhile, in Istanbul, residents took advantage of the sunny weather to spend quality time with their families in parks and beaches. Büyükçekmece experienced a summer-like day, with people flocking to the promenade to soak up the sun.
In Büyükçekmece, known for its popular beaches, residents enjoyed the warm weather by either strolling along the promenade, sunbathing on the beaches, or relaxing in the parks. Families and children reveled in the greenery, sea, and sunshine, creating lasting memories as they ushered in the year 2025.
Similarly, in Düzce’s Akçakoca district, citizens celebrated the first day of the new year on the beach. Setting up tables and chairs, residents enjoyed breakfast and fun activities by the seaside, making the most of the sunny weather.
While much of Turkey braces for snow and showers in the coming days, these heartwarming moments of enjoying unexpected summer-like weather serve as a reminder of the diverse and beautiful experiences the country has to offer.
