Turkish Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş Sends Free Jerusalem Message
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, recently attended the “751st Anniversary of Reunion of Mevlana (Şeb-İ Arus) International Commemoration Ceremony” in Konya and delivered a powerful speech. During his address, Kurtulmuş emphasized the importance of peace and unity among all humanity, echoing the teachings of Mevlana.
Kurtulmuş highlighted Mevlana’s concept of “the great human being” and his ability to bring people together without discrimination. He stressed that in today’s world, peace is essential, yet conflicts and injustices persist due to people’s failure to truly embrace equality and unity. He emphasized that Mevlana’s teachings still hold relevance today and can serve as a guiding light towards establishing a world of peace and justice.
Furthermore, Kurtulmuş praised the historical significance of Mevlevi lodges, describing them as “castles of light” that have spread enlightenment throughout the Ottoman Empire and beyond. He referred to these lodges as centers of education and wisdom, where dervishes and mujahideen once gathered to learn and unite.
In his speech, Kurtulmuş also expressed hope for the liberation of the Mevlevi Lodges in Aleppo, Damascus, and Jerusalem, emphasizing the importance of preserving these historical sites and allowing for peaceful ceremonies to take place there. He called for unity and solidarity among Mevlana’s followers, envisioning a future where all are welcome to come together to honor and commemorate Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi.
As the ceremony concluded, Kurtulmuş received a long round of applause from the audience, reaffirming their support for his message of peace and unity. He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt prayer, asking for the liberation of Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Mevlevi Lodge, in the hopes of witnessing a brighter and more harmonious future for all.
