Türkiye and the World Gather at the 5th Cilo Mountains Festival: 4,135 Feet High!
The 5th edition of the festival in the Cilo Mountains and Sat Glacier Lakes was successfully held this year. The event took place at an altitude of 4,135 meters, in an area that has been cleared of terrorism in Hakkari and declared a ‘national park’ by Presidential decision. Organized by the Hakkari Governor’s Office and supported by the Yüksekova District Governorship and various institutions, the festival attracted participants from many provinces, as well as locals from Hakkari.
The festival started yesterday and will continue until tomorrow, with participants camping in tents. Mountaineers and nature enthusiasts, including women, enjoyed breakfast on the shores of the lake and showcased their skills with canoes. Participants also took the opportunity to engage in activities such as trekking, paragliding, swimming, and mountain biking. The stunning views of the Sat Glacial Lakes provided the perfect backdrop for memorable experiences and beautiful photographs.
Kenan Canan, the Director of Yuksekova Public Education, attended the festival and expressed his admiration for the Cilo Mountains and Sat Glacier Lakes National Park. He described the area as a corner of paradise and highlighted the high level of participation from both domestic and international visitors. Thousands of people arrived and set up camps near the lakes the previous evening. The 5th edition of Cilo-Fest transformed into a magnificent feast, and Canan extended his gratitude to everyone who contributed to its success.
One notable aspect of the festival was the long queue of vehicles that stretched for miles. Organized by the Governorship of Hakkari, the festival attracted nature lovers from various parts of Turkey and different countries worldwide. Some individuals had to leave their vehicles behind and make the journey to the festival area on foot due to the congestion. Vefa Yazar, who came all the way from Istanbul to see the Sat lakes, expressed his determination to reach his destination despite the challenging circumstances.
The 5th festival in the Cilo Mountains and Sat Glacier Lakes proved to be a remarkable event that brought together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate nature and adventure. The stunning landscape and exciting activities offered a unique experience for all participants, making it a festival to remember.
