Turkmen Customs Adopts Paperless Technologies for Trade Operations
Customs department specialists in Turkmenistan are actively engaging with participants in foreign economic activity to discuss the transition to paperless customs clearance. These discussions are centered around the implementation of the “Single Window” for export-import operations, which aims to streamline processes and boost efficiency.
Various organizations, including the State Quarantine Service, the State Association of Livestock and Poultry Industry, and transport and logistics companies, participated in the meetings held at the Ashgabat city customs office. The agenda included updates on state programs to increase export volumes and promote import-substituting products, as well as discussions on customs legislation and foreign economic activity issues.
Customs officers highlighted the benefits available to domestic exporters and explained the advantages of the Single Window project in facilitating export-import transactions. Additionally, an Interdepartmental Commission meeting was held to coordinate the project with the involvement of various stakeholders.
The discussions also touched upon the customs service’s information system, which enables the provision and utilization of preliminary information on goods and vehicles crossing borders. This system, accessible through the state web portal “Single Window for Export-Import Operations,” aims to expedite trade turnover, reduce customs operation times, minimize paperwork, and enhance service quality.
Overall, these meetings underscore the commitment of Turkmenistan to modernize and optimize its customs processes, ultimately fostering a more efficient and conducive environment for foreign trade activities.
