Turkmen-Iranian Relations Reach New Heights
Turkmen-Iranian relations have reached a new milestone with a recent visit by the National Leader of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the visit on August 28, 2024, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was warmly welcomed by high-ranking officials of Iran at the Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran. The strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Iran, based on trust and mutual respect, was highlighted during the meetings between the two leaders.
President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for accepting the invitation to visit Iran and emphasized the long-standing good-neighborly relations between the two countries. The leaders discussed various areas of cooperation, including trade, economic partnerships, and collaboration in the gas and power sectors.

At the conclusion of the meetings, several bilateral documents were signed, outlining areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran in the coming years. These include agreements on cooperation in foreign affairs, port relationships, natural gas development, and customs administration.
The visit also saw the exchange of cultural and humanitarian partnerships, with an invitation extended to the President of Iran to participate in the International Forum in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi in Ashgabat.
