Turkmen-Mexican Virtual Political Consultations Held
Recently, the first political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United Mexican States were held via videoconference. The meeting took place on October 24, 2024, with the participation of the heads of the structural divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries.
The agenda of the consultations covered a wide range of topics, focusing on ways to strengthen partnerships in key areas such as energy, trade, economics, agriculture, education, culture, and sports. The participants also discussed their collaboration within international structures, with a particular emphasis on the United Nations. Both sides expressed their commitment to enhancing multilateral partnerships.
During the meeting, the parties explored opportunities for cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, including the potential for establishing contacts between business circles. Cultural exchange was also a significant topic of discussion, with plans for implementing joint programs and organizing events in the future.
The importance of establishing ties between specialized higher education institutions was highlighted, specifically between The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and The Matias Romero Institute of Diplomacy Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.
In addition, the participants underscored the significance of establishing bilateral inter-parliamentary contacts to further strengthen interstate cooperation. It was agreed to hold the next round of political consultations in Ashgabat next year.
Overall, the Turkmen-Mexican political consultations via videoconference marked a significant step towards closer collaboration and deeper cooperation between the two countries in various spheres.
