Turkmen National Leader attends SCO Summit
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, recently participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in the Republic of Kazakhstan. On July 4, 2024, Berdimuhamedov left for Astana, where he was welcomed by officials and the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
The Summit, held at the Palace of Independence, was attended by leaders and representatives of SCO member states, observer countries, and international organizations. Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the invitation and highlighted Turkmenistan’s interest in promoting a Global Security Strategy and enhancing partnership in various areas.
He proposed collaborating on projects like the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and emphasized the potential for cooperation in energy, transportation, trade, agriculture, and technology. Berdimuhamedov also stressed the importance of strengthening humanitarian and educational ties within the SCO.
During the visit, Berdimuhamedov participated in the unveiling of a monument to Magtymguly Fragi, a renowned poet and thinker. Meetings with Kazakh officials focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors. The Summit served as a platform for discussing mutual interests and fostering regional partnerships.
