Turkmenistan and Italy Strengthen Mutual Relations
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan recently hosted a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Edmondo Cirielli. The meeting, which took place on January 14, 2025, in Ashgabat, focused on strengthening the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.
Diplomats from both Turkmenistan and Italy highlighted the significance of the bilateral political dialogue and discussed the potential for further cooperation in trade, economics, culture, and humanitarian efforts. They emphasized the importance of high-level engagements in advancing bilateral ties.
Additionally, talks delved into the possibilities of collaboration within international organizations and the “Central Asia – Italy” format. The positive track record of cooperation on UN platforms was acknowledged, with a mutual commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace and sustainable development.
Both parties expressed optimism about the continuation of a productive partnership across various areas of shared interest.
Further political consultations between Turkmenistan and Italy were also held on the same day. These talks, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akhmet Gurbanov from Turkmenistan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Chirielli from Italy, touched upon the current state and future prospects of Turkmen-Italian cooperation.
The discussions encompassed regional and international matters of mutual concern, as well as joint efforts in observing the International Year of Peace and Trust. The diplomats recognized the vast potential for expanding trade and economic collaboration, emphasizing the need for business community engagement through meetings and forums.
