Turkmenistan Delegation Joins Third Afghanistan Special Representatives Meeting in Qatar

The delegation of Turkmenistan in Qatar recently participated in the third meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan, which took place in Doha from June 30 to July 1, 2024. Led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, A. Gurbanov, the delegation engaged in discussions under the auspices of the UN regarding the current political, economic, and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the participants, including representatives from the Afghan authorities, shared their perspectives on expanding opportunities for the private sector in Afghanistan and combating illegal drug trafficking.

In his address, the head of the Turkmenistan delegation highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive assistance to the Afghan people, guided by principles of good neighborliness and humanism. These initiatives were first introduced by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and are now successfully carried forward by the President of Turkmenistan.

The delegation also mentioned specific activities such as the exhibition of goods and services from Afghanistan, the Turkmen-Afghan business forum, and the visit of Turkmen entrepreneurs to Herat, which have contributed to strengthening trade relations between the private sectors of both countries.

A. Gurbanov emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to fulfilling international obligations by actively collaborating with other nations and international organizations to combat challenges such as illegal drug trafficking and other global issues.
