Turkmenistan Investment Forum in Ashgabat
The Turkmenistan Investment Forum kicked off in Ashgabat on September 10, 2024, focusing on discussing investment projects and enhancing international cooperation in the country. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, the two-day forum has attracted international experts, representatives from leading national and foreign companies in oil and gas, energy, construction, transport, and communication sectors, as well as international organizations, financial institutions, and scientific centers.
Turkmenistan’s delegation at the event includes heads of ministries, agencies, banks, and members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The opening ceremony featured a video address by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, underlining the forum’s importance for the country’s economic growth and international cooperation.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore an exhibition showcasing high technologies and innovations aimed at boosting Turkmenistan’s economy. The forum’s agenda includes thematic sessions, panel discussions, and presentations covering topics like digital transformation, innovation, sustainable development, and infrastructural projects.
Key discussions at the forum will revolve around the prospects for the energy sector, including renewable energy projects and sustainable resource management, as well as the development of transport infrastructure, such as new roads, railways, and ports. The forum also serves as a platform for enhancing logistical links in Turkmenistan.
On the sidelines of the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov met with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, to discuss bilateral trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Germany. The successful participation of German companies in the forum was highlighted, with both sides expressing interest in further collaboration, particularly in the healthcare sector.
