Turkmenistan to Construct Central Asia’s First Blue Ammonia Plant
Turkmenistan and South Korea’s Daewoo E&C have signed a deal to build the first blue ammonia plant in Central Asia. The plant, which is expected to begin construction in the second half of next year, will be located in the Balkan region and will produce carbamide-ammonia fertilizers, providing ample opportunities for the export of environmentally friendly products to Europe. Daewoo E&C expressed plans to expand further cooperation with Turkmenistan to maximise the country’s potential based on its experience in building fertilizer plants in Morocco, Nigeria and Algeria. The resource base of Turkmenistan allows the country to become a competitive producer and exporter of mineral fertilizers, and also determines the investment attractiveness of this industry. The Government of Turkmenistan also invited the Korean builder to join other state projects such as the construction of water treatment and desalination plants, modern highways, smart city development, and renewable energy sources.
