Turkmenistan’s Energy Sector: An Opportunity for Foreign Investment

The International Forum to Attract Foreign Investments in Turkmenistan’s Energy Sector, TEIF 2024, recently concluded in Paris after two days of insightful discussions and sessions. Organized by the State Concerns “Turkmengas” and “Turkmennebit” with the support of “Turkmen Forum” and British GaffneyCline, the forum brought together more than 300 delegates from over 30 countries.

The final day of the Forum focused on key aspects of energy sector development, with sessions highlighting the role of financial institutions in promoting clean energy and modern infrastructure projects, as well as accelerating investments in new projects in Turkmenistan’s construction, chemical gas utilization, transport, and communications sectors.

The first day of the Forum delved into topics such as Turkmenistan’s role in the future of global energy, prospects for natural gas production in an energy transition, reducing methane and CO2 emissions in hydrocarbon production, and investment opportunities in commodities for energy transition.

The Forum saw the participation of distinguished speakers including Tatiana Molcean, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of UNECE, Brice Roquefeuil, Director of Continental Europe at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pascal Lamy, Vice President of the Paris Peace Forum and former Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and Haitham Al-Ghais, Secretary General of OPEC, among others.

In addition to the insightful sessions, the Forum facilitated over 100 meetings with the leadership of Turkmenistan’s energy, construction, transport, and communication sectors, fostering an active exchange of experiences and strengthening partnerships. Leading companies and organizations such as the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, CNPC, Petronas, Dragon Oil, and Honghua Group also participated in the event.

The TEIF 2024 Forum proved to be a valuable platform for discussing investment opportunities and strategies in Turkmenistan’s energy sector, with participants from around the world coming together to explore ways to drive sustainable growth and development in the region.
