
Twin Brothers Win Medals at European Weightlifting Championship

Turkish weightlifting champions, Burcu and Duygu Alici, achieved great success at the European Weightlifting Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Burcu Alici won the bronze medal in both snatch and clean and jerk in the 55-kilo category, while Duygu Alici won the silver medal in snatch at 49 kilos.
In a statement, the national athletes expressed their happiness at receiving medals together in the championship. Burcu Alici, in particular, stated that it was their first time competing in the senior category at the European Championship and winning their first medals. She also expressed her desire to go to the 2028 Olympics with her twin sister Duygu. The sisters have been participating in weightlifting for 10 years and have had success in previous competitions, including in the youth category.
Duygu Alici also shared her pride in winning a medal with her brother at the European Championship and discussed their close bond and support for each other. She expressed her goals for future competitions, including the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ferhat Coşkun, the Head Coach of the Women’s National Weightlifting Team, praised the sisters for their progress and expressed confidence in their ability to bring more medals to Turkey in the future.
