Labor and Freedom Alliance Wins 66 Seats in Turkey’s 28th Term Deputy General Elections
According to the latest updates from Turkey’s 28th term deputy general elections, the Labor and Freedom Alliance has won a total of 66 seats, while the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TIP) has won 4 deputies as part of this alliance.
Among the elected members of parliament were three deputies from the Workers’ Party of Türkiye (TIP), namely Sera Kadıgil, Erkan Baş, and Ahmet Sik, who were re-elected for their positions. However, Baris Atay, a candidate in Antalya, failed to secure re-election as a deputy.
Meanwhile, Can Atalay, a detained lawyer from the Gezi trial, was elected as a deputy from Hatay with the support of TİP, enabling the party to hold onto its number of seats in the Assembly.
Mehmet Aslantug, an actor nominated by TİP from Muğla, and İrfan Değirmenci, nominated by TIP from Izmir, were unable to enter the Turkish Grand National Assembly according to the results announced at midnight.
Serhat Ozcan, a candidate player from Balıkesir, also failed to secure a seat in the Assembly.
The new deputy general elections in Turkey were marked by a high level of voter turnout and political engagement. As the country moves forward, it remains to be seen how the new parliament will address the various challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
