UAE Telecom Giant Implements 4-Day Work Week

e&, formerly known as the Etisalat Group, is making waves in the technology industry by introducing a pilot project to implement a four-day work week for some of its employees. This move positions the UAE’s largest telecommunications holding as the first technology company to respond to the global call for workplace flexibility.

Dena Almansouri, e& Group HR Director, emphasized the company’s recognition of the need to enhance workplace strategies. Almansouri stated, “It is important to challenge norms, learn through experimentation, to create a more effective and fulfilling environment for the development of employees and businesses.”

In addition to the shortened work week, e& has already implemented a “hybrid workplace” model, allowing employees to work remotely for a couple of days each week. Notably, one of these remote work days will be Friday, referred to as “Green Fridays” by the e& team. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability by reducing energy consumption in offices and carbon emissions in transport.

This innovative approach to work has already been backed by a study published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), which highlights its effectiveness in improving employee well-being, increasing productivity, and making a significant contribution to the environment.

e&’s forward-thinking approach to workplace flexibility sets a precedent for other companies in the technology sector and beyond, signaling a shift towards more adaptable and environmentally conscious work practices.
