US Army Responds to UAV Attacks in Iraq, Minor Injuries Reported
In the past 24 hours, the US Army successfully defended against three unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks near US and coalition forces in Iraq, according to a statement released on CENTCOM’s website. The statement provided details of the incidents and their outcomes.
In Western Iraq, US forces managed to destroy one UAV, while the second UAV was only damaged but resulted in minor injuries to coalition forces. Thankfully, no injury or damage was reported when US forces destroyed another UAV in Northern Iraq.
The Ayn al-Assad Military Base, where US soldiers are stationed, is situated in Anbar province in western Iraq. Additionally, approximately 70 kilometers northeast of Erbil, in the town of Harir, there is a base belonging to the US-led anti-DAESH coalition.
In connection with these recent attacks, the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) Anti-Terrorism Unit reported that a bomb-laden UAV fell on an empty area in the town of Harir at 12:18 in the afternoon.
