UBP Prepares for its Largest Congress in History – BRTK

UBP Ordinary Congress preparations reach final stage

The Secretary General of the National Unity Party (UBP), Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, has announced that preparations for the UBP Ordinary Congress scheduled for Saturday, September 21, have reached the final stage.

The congress is set to begin at 09:00 at the Lefkoşa Atatürk Sports Hall, with General Presidential candidates expected to enter the hall around 09:15. The voting process will commence at 11:00.

Hasipoğlu disclosed that 122 candidates will be competing for the Party Assembly, in addition to the 3 General Chairman candidates. The voting process will continue until 21:00 in the evening. When voting for the Party Assembly candidates, voters are reminded to clearly follow the numbers stated on the ballot. For example, for candidates from the general PM list, voters should mark 16 people for Lefkoşa, 13 for Gazi Mağusa, 11 for Girne, 5 for İskele, 3 for Güzelyurt, and 2 for Lefke. The number of candidates to mark for the Women and Youth quotas is fixed and should not be exceeded or marked below.

The counting of General Chairman candidates will take place after 21:00 on the same night, while the counting for the PM election will occur on Sunday at 10:00.

Hasipoğlu emphasized the importance of the Congress decision on the Cyprus issue, stating that it will send crucial messages to the world. He highlighted that the 23rd Ordinary Congress is the largest in terms of member numbers for the first time, with guests from Turkey and Azerbaijan also participating. Hasipoğlu expressed hopes for a beneficial outcome for the country and party, with the Congress being closely followed both domestically and internationally.

He concluded by reaffirming the National Unity Party’s commitment to working diligently and vigorously in the upcoming period to create a better future for the Turkish Cypriot people.
