Ukraine claims control of 74 settlements in Kursk region

The situation in Ukraine and Russia has escalated as the Ukrainian army continues its offensive against the Kursk region in Russia. Ukrainian President Zelenskiy recently held a meeting with Chief of General Staff Sirskiy to discuss the advancements made by the Ukrainian army in the region. Zelenskiy stated that 74 settlements in the Kursk region are now under Ukrainian control, with inspections and necessary measures being taken to address humanitarian aid problems in the area.
Chief of General Staff Sirskiy highlighted the ongoing clashes along the front line in Kursk, noting that Ukrainian troops have advanced 1 to 3 kilometers in certain directions in the last 24 hours. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian forces are opposing Ukrainian soldiers in the region, resulting in significant casualties on the Ukrainian side.
The crisis in the Kursk region has prompted Deputy Governor Smirnov to call for patience as the region faces difficulties. Russian regions are sending humanitarian supplies and providing financial support to Kursk, while Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev condemned Ukraine’s actions as a “terrorist act” and vowed punishment for those responsible.
As the conflict intensifies, President Putin has called for the removal of Ukrainian soldiers from Russian territory and the security of the state border. Evacuations have been carried out in the region, with casualties reported on both sides. The situation remains tense as the Ukrainian army’s offensive against Kursk continues to unfold.
