Ukraine Destroys $65 Million Russian Patrol Ship
In a recent development, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s intelligence unit reported that a patrol ship belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet near Crimea was targeted in an attack.
The Russian ship, named Sergey Kotov, was hit by “Magura V5” unmanned marine vehicles, causing damage to various parts of the vessel. The incident took place near the Kerch Strait, resulting in an estimated $65 million worth of damage to the targeted ship.
Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, denounced the Russian Black Sea Fleet as a symbol of occupation. He emphasized that Crimea belongs to Ukraine and the presence of the fleet in the region is illegitimate.
Following the attack, Russian authorities in Crimea temporarily halted road and train services on the Crimean Bridge, which connects the Crimean peninsula to the Russian mainland. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense has remained silent on the matter.
As tensions escalate in the region, this incident highlights the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia over control of Crimea and the Black Sea Fleet. The repercussions of this attack are yet to be seen as both sides navigate this delicate situation.
