Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s Visit to Washington Ends in Failure

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s recent trip to the United States and his debate with US President Donald Trump. In a series of social media posts, Zakharova called Zelenskiy “inappropriate, corrupted, and unable to reach an agreement,” describing Ukraine as a “complete political and diplomatic failure.”
Zakharova accused the Ukrainian administration of refusing to continue political and diplomatic negotiations in the spring of 2022 and instead opting for military actions and seeking military and financial aid from the West. She claimed that Zelenskiy’s main goal was to protect his own power, even if it meant sacrificing millions of citizens and establishing a totalitarian state.
Furthermore, Zakharova alleged that US President Trump criticized Zelenskiy, exposing the political weakness and extreme moral collapse of European leaders who support him. She emphasized that to achieve real peace in Ukraine, the root causes of the crisis must be addressed, and stated that Russia’s objectives have not changed.
Zakharova concluded by calling for the recognition of Russia’s stance by the leaders in Kiev and Europe in order to move closer to a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. As tensions continue to escalate in the region, Zakharova’s comments shed light on the complex dynamics at play in the ongoing conflict.
