Nuri Aslan: The Newly Elected 1st Deputy Chairman of IMM Assembly
The Vice Presidency of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly has been determined today, with Nuri Aslan being elected as the 1st Deputy Chairman. Clarifying the process, CHP leader Ozgur Ozgur mentioned that the decision is made by the municipal council, and the candidate for vice president is consulted among them.
But who is Nuri Aslan? Born in 1969 in Sivas, Aslan completed his education in Ship Construction Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1990. He later held various leadership positions, including General Manager of a private company.
His political career includes serving as a member of the Municipal Assembly in Küçükçekmece district between 1999 and 2004. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kızılay Küçükçekmece and held positions in several business associations. Aslan was elected as a member of Beylikdüzü Municipality and IMM Assembly in 2019, eventually becoming the 1st Deputy Chairman of the Assembly in April 2024.
The distribution of seats in the IMM Council shows that the majority belongs to the CHP with 185 seats. The AK Party has 120 members, MHP has 6, and BBP has 2 members. Additionally, there is one independent member.
Nuri Aslan is married and has three children, bringing his extensive experience and leadership skills to his new role as the 1st Deputy Chairman of the IMM Assembly.
