Understanding Minister Bayraktar’s Report on Electrical and Natural Gas Bills
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar recently made some significant announcements regarding electricity bills, natural gas prices, and energy plans for Turkey. During a meeting with media representatives in Ankara, Minister Bayraktar stated that there will be no increase in natural gas prices for the upcoming winter. He also discussed the new billing system that will affect a small percentage of subscribers and the plans for nuclear power plants in Sinop.
One of the key points mentioned by Minister Bayraktar is that around 1.2 million subscribers, which is 3% of the total subscribers in Turkey, will be affected by a new regulation starting on February 1. Those exceeding a consumption of 5,000 kilowatt hours will now pay the real cost of electricity, resulting in a possible increase in their bills. However, the remaining 40 million subscribers out of 42 million will not experience any price increase or changes in their bills.
Regarding natural gas, Minister Bayraktar mentioned that there may be adjustments in the future but emphasized the need for careful planning and sensitivity in this regard. Turkey’s strong infrastructure and potential as a natural gas center have drawn interest from European countries looking to purchase gas from Turkey.
