112 Emergency Call Center: Importance of Using it for Emergencies
The 112 Emergency Call Center is a vital service that is available 24 hours a day to assist with emergencies that are life-threatening. However, authorities have raised concerns about the misuse of this service for non-emergency situations. Calls that are not related to emergencies could potentially prevent the response to events that require immediate intervention, putting people’s lives at risk.
Dr. Münevver Kurt, the Chief Physician Specialist of the Antalya Provincial Ambulance Service, emphasized the importance of using the 112 Emergency Call Center for genuine emergencies. He explained that the call center is staffed with more than 100 personnel, including call consultants, physicians, and support units who are trained to provide guidance and assistance during emergency situations. They can offer advice on first aid applications over the phone to help citizens in need.
Dr. Kurt also highlighted some of the absurd demands that have been made to the call center, such as requesting information about genetic diseases or asking for transportation to the airport. Such calls divert resources and attention away from genuine emergencies, potentially putting lives at risk.
In urgent cases, Dr. Kurt stressed the importance of first aid training for adults. Quick intervention can be crucial in situations like heart stops or respiratory failures. Knowing how to provide basic first aid can make a significant difference in saving a life.
It is essential for the public to use the 112 Emergency Call Center responsibly and only for genuine emergencies. By doing so, we can ensure that the necessary help reaches those in need promptly, potentially saving lives.
