Unions and Management at Standstill: Time to Change Statute?
Disciplinary Regulation Discusses in the General Assembly of the Assembly of the Republic
During a recent session of the General Assembly of the Assembly of the Republic, discussions were held regarding the Disciplinary Regulation. Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu expressed that if the unions are willing to establish a dialogue, they are also prepared, but emphasized that no one can give them time to change the statutes.
Çavuşoğlu stated that changing the statute is legally acceptable, and that there is no objection to it in that regard. The General Assembly concluded its current work, and the next meeting will be held with the agenda focused on audits.
The main opposition CTP Chairman, Tufan Erhürman, addressed the assembly and raised concerns about various issues. He criticized the government’s handling of certain situations, including the passing of a student in Sultan Theology College and the construction of a new state hospital in Nicosia.
Erhürman emphasized the importance of respecting the Turkish Cypriot people and their traditions, customs, and beliefs. He also raised concerns about the country’s diplomatic relationships and questioned the direction in which the government is leading the nation.
During the session, other members also shared their opinions on different topics, including the status of certain real estate properties and the Court of Accounts Audit report on investment expenses and tenders.
Overall, the General Assembly meeting touched on a variety of important issues, reflecting the diverse concerns of the members and the need for constructive dialogue and decision-making processes in the Republic.
