Terrible incident in Istanbul: University student nearly died while walking on the road
A 20-year-old university student, Emir Öksüzoğlu, had a terrifying experience while on his way to class in Sarıyer, Istanbul. As he was walking on the road, an iron railing from the first floor fell on his head, causing him injury. Luckily, he was taken to the hospital and received stitches on his head, but his life was not in danger.
Emir Öksüzoğlu, a Software Engineering student at a private university in Ayazağa, Sarıyer district of Istanbul, left his home to go to university on Tuesday, October 8. It was during this routine walk that the unexpected incident occurred.
Reportedly, while Emir Öksüzoğlu was walking on the road, the iron railing on the first floor of a workplace became loose and fell down, hitting his head. Security cameras captured the horrifying moments as the railing struck the young student, causing him to fall to the ground.
Witnesses immediately called for help, and medical and police teams arrived at the scene promptly. Emir Öksüzoğlu was given first aid and then transported to Okmeydanı Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu Hospital in Şişli for further treatment.
Fortunately, Emir Öksüzoğlu survived with only an open wound on his head, despite the severity of the incident. He expressed concerns about the lack of occupational safety that led to the incident and mentioned that legal proceedings might be initiated to prevent such accidents in the future.
The police have started an investigation into the incident, and hopefully, measures will be taken to ensure the safety of pedestrians and students in the area.
