Unprecedented Fireworks Display to Celebrate August National Holiday

The upcoming August 20 celebrations in Hungary are set to feature the most spectacular fireworks show ever seen in the country. The Government Information Center (KTK) has announced that the fire and light show will extend over 5 kilometers along the Danube, surpassing the previous length of 4.3 kilometers.

This year, the festivities marking the anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian state will span four days, starting on Saturday, August 17. A variety of events are planned at 19 venues, including mini-festivals, music performances, cultural displays, and gastronomic delights. These celebrations have become a popular summer tradition, attracting Hungarian and international visitors to Budapest to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

The highlight of this year’s celebrations will undoubtedly be the fireworks display, which promises to be the most impressive yet. Stretching over 5 kilometers along the Danube, the show will reach as far as Margaret Island and span three inner-city bridges. The display will feature more pyrotechnics, drones, and light painting than ever before, enhancing the visual spectacle for all spectators.

In the previous year, 34,000 pyrotechnic effects illuminated the sky from multiple launch points, including bridges and river barges. A drone show added an extra dimension to the event, with 896 unmanned aerial vehicles creating shapes and symbols of Hungarian history. This combination of traditional fireworks and innovative technology earned the event industry’s top recognition in 2022.

As preparations continue for this year’s August 20 celebrations, anticipation is building for the grand fireworks show that will dazzle audiences along the Danube and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Hungary.
