Anchovies are being sold at fish stalls in Trabzon for 100 lira per kilogram, attracting a large number of consumers. The stalls in the Moloz area of Ortahisar district are offering a wide variety of fish including whiting, garfish, yellowfin, horse mackerel, salmon, sea bass, sea bream, trout, and of course, anchovies.
According to fisherman Mehmet Örseloğlu, there is an abundance of fish varieties available at the stalls, with anchovies still being one of the most popular choices. He mentioned that the hunting season opening on September 1 brought an abundance of anchovies, which has continued to this day.
Another fisherman, Ahmet Çoğamış, expressed his satisfaction with this year’s fishing season, mentioning that the anchovy season lasted 1.5 months after bonito, which is a rare occurrence in his 40 years of fishing experience.
