Nemrut Caldera: A Snow-Covered Paradise for Tourists
Nemrut Caldera, home to the stunning Nemrut Crater Lake – the second largest crater lake in the world, is a must-visit destination for tourists in the city. Every year, thousands of local and foreign visitors flock to this natural wonder, and this year, the caldera has received an unusually heavy snowfall.
Despite it being the month of May, Nemrut is still blanketed in snow, with some areas even featuring snow tunnels up to 5 meters high. Recently, the snow-covered road leading up to the summit was opened by the Tatvan District Governorate, allowing eager visitors to make their way up to the crater lake.
Located at an altitude of 2,250 meters, the award-winning crater lake is a sight to behold. Many tourists brave the snow tunnels to reach the summit and marvel at the breathtaking views. The road leading to the caldera, resembling snow tunnels, is usually closed for most of the year, but plans are underway to open up the summit to the inside of the caldera soon.
