The Truths of the Cyprus Problem Revealed in New Book Launch at Bellapais Monastery
A new book titled “The Truths of the Cyprus Problem,” written by author Arif Tahir Erişen, was recently launched at Bellapais Monastery. The event saw the participation of prominent figures who shed light on the importance of the book and the ongoing issues faced by Turkish Cypriots.
GAU Rector Prof. Dr. Serdar Yurtsever, who also edited the book, provided insights into its contents during the introduction. The President’s Private Secretary Çağın Zort emphasized the significance of the book in addressing the complexities of the Cyprus problem.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, highlighted the historical injustices faced by Turkish Cypriots and the continued international embargoes against them. He stressed the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with Turkey in light of current geopolitical challenges.
President of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, underscored the importance of books like these in educating future generations about the historical evolution of the Cyprus problem and lobbying efforts. He also raised concerns about the hypocrisy in international responses to conflicts, particularly in the Middle East.
Töre denounced the double standards in upholding UN Security Council decisions, pointing out the inconsistency in enforcing resolutions. He reiterated the need for Turkey’s unwavering support as a practical guarantee for the region’s stability.
The event at Bellapais Monastery served as a platform for dialogue and reflection on the past, present, and future of the Cyprus issue. The book launch was a significant step towards fostering a deeper understanding of the complex dynamics at play in the region.
