Sudani Provides Updates on Iraq’s Development Road Project
During a recent program in Baghdad, Sudani shared important information about the ongoing Development Road Project in Iraq. Describing the project as a transformative initiative that will make Iraq an “open country,” Sudani revealed that the railway designs for the Development Road have been finalized. However, he emphasized that it will take approximately 5 years to fully complete the project.
In addition, Sudani announced that the third meeting of the Council of Ministers regarding the Development Path is scheduled to take place in November. He mentioned that preparations have begun to establish a committee to oversee and manage the project effectively.
Sudani also emphasized the importance of security measures along the Development Path, stating, “All of Iraq’s territory is under the control of our security forces. We have instructed the preparation of a comprehensive plan to secure the Development Path.”
The Development Road Project, which will span from the Greater Faw Port in the Persian Gulf to Turkey, is expected to cover a distance of 1,200 kilometers, encompassing both railway and road infrastructure. The project aims to connect to the Turkish railway network through key Iraqi cities such as Basra, Baghdad, and Mosul.
