New Law Proposal Aims to Strengthen Animal Welfare Legislation

A new Penalty (Amendment) Law Proposal has been introduced by a group of UBP and CTP Deputies in an effort to address issues and confusion surrounding the implementation of the Animal Welfare Law. The proposal, which has been published in the Official Gazette and is now open to public feedback, seeks to streamline the investigation process and enforcement of administrative fines related to animal welfare crimes.

The law proposal, spearheaded by National Unity Party İskele Deputy Yasemi Öztürk, Republican Turkish Party Kyrenia Deputy Ongun Talat, National Unity Party Kyrenia Deputy Hasan Küçük, Republican Turkish Party Nicosia Deputy Ürün Solyalı, and National Unity Party Lefke Deputy Fırtına Karanfil, aims to provide clarity and efficiency in the enforcement of animal welfare regulations.

Those interested in providing feedback and suggestions on the Penalty (Amendment) Law Proposal have twenty days to submit their comments in writing to the Presidency of the Parliament. This new law proposal represents a step towards strengthening animal welfare legislation and ensuring the protection and well-being of animals in the country.
