Urgent Alert: Forest Fire Forces Suspension of Ship Traffic in Çanakkale
A forest fire broke out in the Kumköy area of the Eceabat district for unknown reasons. Alerted by citizens who saw the smoke rising, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry quickly responded to the scene. The fire was being tackled on the ground with water trucks and from the air with helicopters and planes.
The Coastal Police issued a statement regarding the situation, announcing that ship traffic on the Dardanelles was temporarily suspended in one direction, north-south, due to the forest fire in the Akbaş location. This decision was made to ensure the safety of all vessels passing through the affected area.
Additionally, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure released a statement confirming the temporary suspension of ship traffic in one direction on the Dardanelles. They reassured that ship traffic will resume in the opposite direction, south-north, until the situation is under control.
