Turkey Braces for Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms
The General Directorate of Meteorology has released its latest evaluations, predicting partly and very cloudy weather with intermittent showers and thunderstorms across the country. The Inner Aegean and İzmir circles, the inner parts of the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia are expected to receive intermittent showers and rainstorms. Thunderstorms are also expected in some areas.
The precipitation is localized in several cities, including Eskişehir, Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar, Uşak, Konya, and Denizli. Areas around Bursa, Burdur, and Isparta, Ankara, Kayseri, Sivas, Tunceli, Elazığ, Malatya, Kahramanmaraş, Ordu, Giresun, Tokat, and Adıyaman are also expected to receive strong precipitation. The wind is expected to blow strongly from the Northeast (40-60 km/h) in Marmara.
The temperatures will be 4 to 6 degrees below the seasonal average in the south and east of the Inner Aegean and around the seasonal average in other places. The wind will blow lightly from the south and east of the country, from the north in other places, occasionally to medium strength, and to the west of the Marmara Region and Eastern Anatolia.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a strong rain warning and urges people in the affected areas to be cautious and careful against floods, floods, lightning, transportation disruptions, strong winds during precipitation, local hail, and tornadoes.
In the Marmara region, intermittent local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the east and around Balıkesir. Precipitation is expected to be strong around Bursa, locally. The Inner Aegean and İzmir circles are expected to be partly and very cloudy, with intermittent showers and thunderstorms in the north and interior. Precipitation is expected to be locally strong around Kütahya, Denizli, Uşak, and Afyonkarahisar.
In central and eastern Black Sea regions, intermittent showers and occasional thunderstorms are expected throughout the area, and precipitation is expected to be locally strong in Ordu, Giresun, and Tokat surroundings and western districts of Trabzon.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has advised the public to keep an eye on the weather forecast and to take necessary precautions when travelling. People should avoid taking shelter under trees during storms and should stay away from rivers and streams that might flood. It is best to stay indoors during a thunderstorm.
