US Helicopter Collision: First Images emerge
CNN has obtained air traffic controller sound recordings from Liveatc.net, revealing a concerning conversation between Air Traffic Control Operators regarding a commercial flight operated by PSA Airlines.
In the recordings, an air traffic controller can be heard asking, “Pat 2-5, in the field of CRJ?” The controller then instructs, “Pat 2-5, pass behind Crj.”
The sound recordings capture tense moments, with background noises including a high “ooo” sound from the tower. The tower issues a warning to another pilot, mentioning a collision at the approach of 3-3 and suggesting a temporary halt in operations while coordination with the company takes place.
Another pilot confirms witnessing the incident, stating, “Yes, we were in the short finals and Potomac was on the opposite side of the fireworks.”
It is revealed that both aircraft were involved in the incident and search and rescue work is ongoing in the river. The severity of the situation is highlighted by the need for coordination and cooperation between pilots and air traffic controllers.
