
US: Sweden Has Kept Its Promise to Turkey

Sweden Extradites PKK-Linked Prisoner to Turkey
On Friday, Jean-Pierre, the White House spokesperson, announced that Sweden has extradited a prisoner linked to the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) to Turkey, in accordance with the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding made with Finland and Turkey at the NATO Summit. Jean-Pierre emphasized Sweden’s enactment of anti-terrorism laws and praised the country as a strong and capable NATO ally. The White House believes that Sweden should become a NATO member as soon as possible.
“Juneteenth” Celebration at the White House
As part of the “Juneteenth” celebration, which commemorates the end of slavery in the US, President Joe Biden will host a gathering of NGO leaders, educators, and students at the White House. Jean-Pierre highlighted Biden’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive government, noting that he nominated more black women to federal courts than any previous president and that nearly a third of judicial appointees are black Americans.
