
Üsel Welcomes Delegation from Foundations Wheelchair Basketball Team

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel Honors Wheelchair Basketball Champions
In a recent ceremony, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel received the championship-winning wheelchair basketball team from the European Cup 2026 Elimination Tournament, alongside Ahmet Akdeniz, President of the TRNC Disabled Sports Federation.
During the event, which featured Prime Minister İlgen Bağcıer, Üstel praised the hard work and achievements of the athletes. "I congratulate everyone for their outstanding success. This accomplishment is a direct reflection of our athletes’ dedication and effort," he stated, expressing pride in the team’s representation of their country.
Üstel emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities, saying, "From the very first day we took office, we have strived to ensure that our disabled brothers are not overlooked. Our aim has always been to empower them and enhance their social engagement."
In a significant announcement, Üstel revealed plans to provide a vehicle to the Disabled Federation, facilitated by the Central Bank, to improve transportation for disabled individuals. "For the first time in 40 years, we have initiated efforts for the employment of disabled individuals under our administration," he noted.
Ahmet Akdeniz expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Üstel, acknowledging the government’s financial support for their tournament. "As a federation, we are proud to represent both our country and the Republic of Turkey. The Prime Minister’s commitment to our cause has greatly contributed to our success," he stated, highlighting the importance of ongoing support for disabled individuals in the region.
Akdeniz reiterated the federation’s recognition of the Prime Minister’s efforts, particularly in facilitating employment opportunities for people with disabilities after years of neglect.
