Üstel and Yılmaz sign MOU for electricity

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) recently held a meeting with Deputy President of the Republic of Turkey, Cevdet Yılmaz, in Ankara. One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of an interstate memorandum of understanding regarding a two-way electricity project between Turkey and the TRNC.

The meeting took place at the Presidential Complex in Ankara and involved discussions on various important matters. Prime Minister Üstel and Vice President Yılmaz discussed the final preparations for the upcoming opening of the new Ercan Airport, scheduled for 20th July. Additionally, they focused on the establishment of an electricity transmission project between Turkey and the TRNC, which will involve a two-way cable connection.

After fruitful negotiations, the interstate memorandum of understanding related to the two-way electricity project was signed. This agreement marks an important step towards strengthening the energy integration and cooperation between Turkey and the TRNC.

The meeting between Prime Minister Üstel and Vice President Yılmaz also covered other significant projects. They discussed the Maraş Social Housing Projects, the construction of the new 500-bed Nicosia State Hospital, as well as developments regarding Girne Hospital, Güzelyurt Hospital, Pamuklu, Lapta Health Center projects. Additionally, they discussed the ongoing water projects carried out by the State Hydraulic Works and the progress of road projects.

Prime Minister Üstel is set to return to Northern Cyprus after completing his contacts and discussions in Ankara. The meeting and the signed memorandum of understanding reflect the commitment of both Turkey and the TRNC to strengthen their bilateral ties and collaborate on crucial projects, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
