ÜSTEL, Arıklı, and Ataser Address Accusations Regarding Road and Intersection Planning
CTP Kyrenia District Organization has responded to allegations regarding the removal of New Jersey barriers on the Alsancak-Lapta-Karşıyaka-Çamlıbel highway in front of Prime Minister Ünal Üsel’s residence. The organization, along with Prime Minister Üsel, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser, and Highways Department Director Kazım Kafaoğlu, addressed the press to provide clarity on the issue.
Mayor Fırat Ataser emphasized the need for clarification, stating that the region’s special arrangements were being misrepresented as a result of the actions taken. He also mentioned requests from the Security Forces Command for intersection construction in the area.
Minister Erhan Arıklı denounced the allegations as unfair, explaining that the project on the highway to Alsancak Karsiyaka was still ongoing and would be completed soon. He clarified that the intersection construction was unrelated to the Prime Minister’s residence and highlighted the continuous efforts to improve road infrastructure in the region.
Prime Minister Ünal Üsel defended the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the public, including infrastructure projects funded through cooperation protocols with Turkey and local resources. He assured the completion of the Kyrenia-Alsancak-Güzelyurt West Road project by July or August.
Responding to criticisms about the removal of barriers near his residence, Prime Minister Üsel emphasized the importance of considering security measures and infrastructure needs. He also highlighted the government’s efforts in electricity production and supply, citing successful outcomes during a period of record cold weather.
