Prime Minister Ünal Üstel Mourns the Death of Former Assembly President Ayhan Halit Acarkan
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel expressed his deep sadness over the passing of Ayhan Halit Acarkan, a former president of the Assembly of the Republic, in a message posted on his social media account.
In his message, Prime Minister Üstel stated, “I have learned with deep sadness about the passing of my esteemed colleague Ayhan Halit Acarkan, one of the former presidents of the Assembly of the Republic, in the hospital where he was receiving treatment.”
Acarkan, who was known as a symbolic figure in the Turkish Cypriot community’s fight for existence, had a significant impact through his roles in the Turkish Resistance Organization, the UBP, and his terms as mayor and parliamentarian in the TRNC. Prime Minister Üstel emphasized that Acarkan’s contributions and duties will not be forgotten.
Offering his deepest condolences to the Acarkan family, Prime Minister Üstel prayed for mercy for the deceased and wished strength to his loved ones during this difficult time. He concluded by saying, “May his soul rest in peace.”
