Reasoned decisions have been announced in the Narin Güran murder case
In the recent development of the Narin Güran murder case, important decisions have been made regarding the detained defendants involved in the crime. The second hearing of the case took place at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court, where the defendants, including Yüksel Güran, Enes Güran, Salim Güran, and Nevzat Bahtiyar, were tried for their roles in the tragic event.
During the hearing, the defendants were asked to share their last words regarding the accusations against them. Yüksel Güran, the arrested defendant and mother of Narin, adamantly proclaimed his innocence, stating, “My Lord is my witness and my guarantor. I was not the murderer of my daughter. I did not harm my daughter in the presence of a servant of God. My head is held high. I am now answering in front of the murderer. I want my acquittal.”
Enes Güran, another detained defendant, also maintained his innocence and requested his acquittal, emphasizing that he always spoke the truth. Salim Güran, the uncle of Narin, expressed his innocence as well, declaring, “I am innocent, I want my acquittal.”
Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to hiding Narin’s body, denied the accusations of killing her, stating, “I definitely did not kill Narin. Salim Güran gave me the body. I also carried it. I am happy with whatever the transportation sentence is. I swear I definitely did not kill her.”
The court panel ultimately convicted Yüksel, Enes, and Salim Güran of intentional murder against the child and sentenced them to aggravated life imprisonment. Nevzat Bahtiyar received a sentence of 4 years and 6 months for destroying, concealing or changing criminal evidence.
The court also decided to continue the detention of the defendants, citing valid grounds of suspicion and the strong indication that they may escape or hide if released. The defendants have the opportunity to appeal the decision within 2 weeks.
The tragic case of Narin Güran, who was found dead in İleritutmaz Creek, shocked the community, leading to the arrest and trial of the suspects involved.
