Vibrant Moments in Istanbul’s Election Campaign

AK Party and CHP Group Deputy Chairmen Sing Folk Songs Together during Election Campaigns
Two group deputy chairmen from different political parties in Turkey surprised their electorate by singing folk songs together during election campaigns. The AK Party Group Deputy Chairman, Özlem Zengin, met with citizens in Silivri, Istanbul, and came across CHP Group Deputy Chairman Engin Altay, who was also conducting election campaigns in the same locality. The two leaders talked about their respective party’s election work and later sang the Gesi Bağları folk song together.
Zengin shared the moments on his social media account, describing the incident as a “feast of democracy” in the elections, while Altay also replied to Zengin’s post, suggesting that they both had beautiful voices and the nation would appreciate listening to their songs together.
Their meeting has demonstrated a refreshing and peaceful coexistence between the two parties, as the country prepares for the upcoming local elections. Hopefully, the Turkish public can embrace more scenes of such positive political discourse moving forward.
