Strengthening Ties: Vietnam and Kazakhstan Celebrate Cultural Exchange
ASTANA – In a remarkable display of cultural diplomacy, Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, recently participated in the traditional Kazakh ceremony of tusaukeser during his visit with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This ritual, which symbolizes the cutting of a baby’s leg fetters, is a heartfelt wish for a prosperous and effortless life ahead. The occasion took place on May 7 at the Ethnoauyl exhibition, which celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people, as reported by Akorda.
The Ethnoauyl exhibition featured a range of themed zones that vividly represent the unique essence of steppe civilization. Attendees had the opportunity to explore various facets of Kazakh culture, including national history, traditional clothing, intricate handicrafts, rituals, hunting traditions, musical instruments, visual arts, and folk games.
During discussions between Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn, Nurtleu emphasized that Astana considers Hanoi a key partner in Southeast Asia. He remarked, “The adoption of the historic joint statement on the establishment of a strategic partnership undoubtedly marks a new and important milestone in our bilateral relations.”
Nurtleu reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to advancing high-level agreements and setting an ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion in the near future. To achieve this, he proposed the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Vietnam Strategic Council to enhance comprehensive bilateral cooperation.
In response, Sơn expressed Vietnam’s eagerness to further strengthen this strategic partnership founded on mutual friendship and trust. He extended an invitation for the Kazakh delegation to visit Hanoi for business discussions.
This cultural exchange and the deepening diplomatic engagement between Vietnam and Kazakhstan signify a promising path toward enhanced collaboration, reflecting the rich traditions and aspirations of both nations.
