Viktor Orbán Celebrates 60th Birthday

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán celebrated his 60th birthday on May 31st. Orbán has been in office since 2010 and has been a member of parliament since 1990. He founded the Alliance of Young Democrats and Fidesz, his party, was in government between 1998-2002 and since 2010. Orbán is known for being driven by commitment, according to analysts. He has gained a lot of experience from his time in office, which has given him “the right and correct conclusions on how to be politically successful,” said Gábor G. Fodor, Strategic Director of the 21st Century Institute. Balázs Böcskei, Director of Research at the IDEA Institute, summarised Orbán’s political character in three phrases, which are the basis of all political action, but Orbán stands out in their enforcement: the pursuit of self-determination and autonomy, adherence to one’s own rules, and the possession of one’s own resources. On his birthday, Orbán only planned to visit his mother as usual and continued his normal work routine, although he later attended the AS Roma-Seville Europa League final and held talks with prominent figures from UEFA in the evening.
