Viktor Orbán Opts Out of Trump Inauguration Appearance

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will not be attending the inauguration of US President Donald Trump on 20 January, as reported by Telex. Instead, Orbán will be delivering a speech at a conference in Budapest to assess the results of the Hungarian EU Presidency.
The decision comes as a surprise to many, considering the close relationship between the two politicians. However, Orbán’s busy schedule and the importance of evaluating the Hungarian EU Presidency seem to be the main reasons for his absence at the inauguration in Washington D.C.
It is unclear if someone else will represent Hungary at the global event. Despite the unexpected announcement, the friendship between Orbán and Trump is expected to remain strong.
