We finally completed a long-awaited task at BRTK

The grave of Faiz Kaymak, a prominent Turkish Cypriot political leader, has been restored and renovated to honor his legacy. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, along with his undersecretary Hüseyin Cahitoğlu, took the initiative to refurbish Kaymak’s grave after receiving a notice from Haber Kıbrıs a few months ago.

Faiz Kaymak, born on April 31, 1904, and passed away on July 27, 1982, was a key figure in the early political landscape of Turkish Cypriots. He co-founded KATAK and the National Party and served as the President of the Turkish Cypriot Institution Federation. His contributions to the representation of Turkish Cypriots both locally and internationally were significant, including leading the first Turkish delegation to New York in 1954.

The restoration work on Kaymak’s grave was completed swiftly, and the public can now view the enhanced final result. A plaque at the head of the grave provides information about Kaymak’s political endeavors and achievements.

Hüseyin Cahitoğlu expressed satisfaction with the quick completion of the restoration work, emphasizing the importance of honoring Kaymak’s memory. Prime Minister Üstel highlighted Kaymak’s pivotal role in Turkish Cypriot history and the debt of gratitude owed to him and his comrades for their efforts in the nation’s development.

The government’s dedication to preserving Turkish Cypriot history is evident in this initiative, which serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Faiz Kaymak.
